What does P³ stand for?
"Platinum Performance ProgramSM"
What is P³?
- P³ is a licensed logo and trademark, which identifies
brokers, freight forwarders, freight audit & payment companies and
carriers in the marketplace who agree to follow the business practices
specified in the program.
- Members who do not follow the program rules or who violate the
licensing agreement will lose their membership and their right to use
the P³ logo or name.
How can we identify a P³ carrier or
broker?
- Internet Truckstop, Transcore (DAT), Getloaded.com, Grabaload.com,
and Carrier411 identify P3 members (brokers, freight forwarders and
carriers) on their systems.
- On TIA’s Web site, P³ members are listed with a logo
as well.
- The P3 Web site has a list of up-to-date
members.
How can we become a P³ member?
Brokers & Freight Forwarders:
Motor Carriers:
- Must be in business for at least one year prior to applying.
- Must be a member of TIA or affiliated with an endorsing
organization.
- Must agree to follow the P³ Agreement for Motor Carriers.
- Must not have an unsatisfactory safety rating.
- Cost of membership is $150 per year.
Freight Bill/Audit Payment Company:
Who decided on the best practices?
- The P³ Board of Governors, with input from TIA brokers and
several carrier groups developed and maintain the best practices
agreements.
What does P³ offer carriers?
- An easy means of identifying brokers operating at a higher level of
professionalism and integrity.
- An identity with shippers and brokers as a better carrier to work
with.
- Ability to avoid many of the common carrier complaints about brokers
including:
- Late or non-payment of charges
- Timely disclosure of significant shipment information
- Fair treatment for accessorial services (layovers, driver labor,
pallets, ordered-not used trucks, etc.)
What happens if a carrier has a problem with a
P³ broker?
- P³ requires brokers and carriers to execute a written
contract which should include a provision for dispute resolution.
- P³ provides a voluntary mediation process and binding
arbitration process for use only by P³ members. The mediators and
arbitrators are a group of attorneys with significant experience and
understanding of transportation law.
- Mediation is a process where the mediator tries to help the carrier
and broker resolve the dispute voluntarily.
- Arbitration is a binding process where the participants agree to
abide by the final decision of the arbitrator.
- Failure to comply with the results of an arbitration process will be
grounds for revocation of membership.
- Litigation is still available if arbitration is not utilized.
How is the program being promoted?
- Endorsements by national and state trucking associations.
- Endorsements by national and state trucking associations.

Truckload Carriers Association are endorsing the program.
- TIA representatives have been invited to present the program to
several trucking groups.
